Multivariable Control Strategy[Based on a Parameterized NMPC for Diesel Engines
نویسندگان
چکیده
In this paper, a multivariable control strategy based on a parameterized Nonlinear Model Predictive Control (NMPC) approach is proposed for a Diesel engine air path. The aim is to control the level of pollutant emissions by coordinating the Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) and the Variable Geometry Turbocharger (VGT) valves simultaneously. The main feature of the proposed controller lies in its compatibility with more elaborated nonlinear representations since it uses the model as a black box predictor. Some experimental results performed on a real world Diesel engine are presented in order to emphasize the efficiency of the controller.

Multivariable Model Predictive Control Design for Turbocharged Exhaust Gas Recirculation System in Marine Combustion Engines
This work investigates a novel turbocharged EGR system installed on a laboratory marine engine. A problem of recirculation of high and stable portion of exhaust gas in marine engines is addressed. Although conventional EGR systems have been extensively presented in research papers, the setup shown in this paper has not been well described. Therefore, we develop a mean-value model of the system ...
متن کاملImproving the combustion and emission characteristics of ISM 370 diesel engine by hydrogen addition and redesigning injection strategy
Hydrogen fuel is the cleanest fuel available. This fuel can be used as an additive in the diesel engine. Diesel engines have the advantages of strong power, high thermal efficiency and low fuel costs. There have been extensive studies on the use of hydrogen fuel in diesel engines in recent years. However, the simultaneous effect of using gaseous hydrogen fuel and changing injection strategy nee...
متن کاملAn Experimental Investigation of Diesel Engines Fuel Injection Pressure Effect on Power Performance and Fuel Consumption
The objective of this paper is to investigate the effect of fuel injection pressure on power performance and fuel consumption of diesel engine. In a diesel engine, fuel injection pressure is an important aspect of the engines’ power performance in order to obtain combustion treatment. The experiments in this paper are performed on a four-cylinder two-stroke direct injection diesel engine. The d...
متن کاملCombustion Control of Diesel Engines Using Injection Timing
We propose a model-based control strategy to adapt the injection settings according to the airpath dynamics of a conventional Diesel engine. This approach complements existing airpath and fuelpath controllers, and aims at accurately controlling the middle of combustion. For that purpose, start of injection is adjusted based on a combustion model and intake manifold conditions. In particular, no...
